Dr. Neil Q. Tran, M.D. Bio -
As an endocrinologist, Dr. Neil Q. Tran has devoted his practice to the research, diagnosis and treatment of endocrine gland disorders leading to medical conditions such as: diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, hypertension and cholesterol disorders, among others. Dr. Tran is interested in many areas of endocrinology, especially thyroid cancer, thyroid imbalance, and disorders of the pituitary gland. He is committed to delivering optimal care to his patients using the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine disorders.
Dr. Tran is Board Certified in both Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Tran completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda California. In 2007, he completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of California Los Angeles and Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.
Gretchen Perea, R.D. Bio -
Gretchen Perea, M.S., R.D., has been with Mission Hospital for more than eight years. Currently, she is an outpatient dietitian at the Center for Rehab/Sports/Wellness. She provides medical nutrition therapy consultations to patients with variety of health concerns including diabetes and pre-diabetes. She also conducts regular diabetes education classes at Mission Hospital.
Prior to her current role, Perea served as the diabetes education coordinator for Misson Hospital. She created and facilitated all aspects of the diabetes program including education classes, screenings, and outreach programs. She also led, and continues to serve on, the South Orange County Diabetes Collaborative. The Collaborative is a group of healthcare providers in south Orange County that address the gaps in diabetes care and education in the community by providing information about local resources.
Perea holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of California at Davis, and completed her Master of Science in Nutrition Science from the California State University at Long Beach. She has been a registered dietitian for more than 17 years and is currently studying for her certification as a diabetes educator. Perea is a former member of the Leadership Council for the American Diabetes Association, Orange County Chapter and in 2006, she and her husband of 20 years were awarded the "Volunteer Couple" Award from the chapter.
