Guest Info: Since 2001, Neyssan Tebyani, M.D., a board certified urologist, has been in Orange County practicing medicine with a specialty in adult urology encompassing with a range of conditions affecting the urinary system including prostate diseases, kidney stones, incontinence and various cancers involving the urinary tract. In May 2008, he performed the first robotic surgery at Mission Hospital using the da Vinci ® S. Surgical System, also known at Mission as “Vitek.” He is one of the most experienced urologic surgeons in south Orange County in the fields of laparoscopy and robotic surgery. Along with his expertise in robotic assisted surgery, Dr. Tebyani brings to Mission Hospital minimally invasive approaches that achieve excellent outcomes, while minimizing patient discomfort. One such procedure is a robotic assisted removal of the prostate gland, which results in less blood loss and quicker recovery. Dr. Tebyani graduated from UCLA School of Medicine in 1995 and received many honors, including Top Medical Graduate and The Warren Medal, which is given to students who show outstanding academic achievement. He completed his general surgery and urological surgery training at the Kaiser-Permanente medical center in Los Angeles. Dr. Tebyani then continued his training in Germany where he expanded his skills in laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Tebyani also has completed advanced training on the da Vinci ® Robotic Surgery system and has been certified by Intuitive Surgical, the system’s manufacturer. He has been involved in various research projects, published scientific papers and contributed to textbooks about urology.
