Guest Info: Eugene Yen, M.D., is Clinical Director of the Center for Crohn’s and Colitis at NorthShore University HealthSystem. He is a board certified gastroenterologist whose main areas of interest are in colon cancer prevention and the management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Dr. Yen earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2001. He completed his postgraduate residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2004. Dr. Yen also completed a three-year fellowship program at University of California, San Francisco where he gained exposure to patients with pregnancy and fertility issues in connection with IBD. Among his many teaching responsibilities, Dr. Yen is course developer and director of a quarterly clinical series at NorthShore offered to physicians to discuss the management of IBD cases. Most recently, he co-authored a research article on the cost-effectiveness of 5-aminosalicyclic acid therapy for the maintenance of remission in ulcerative colitis that will be published in the prestigious American Journal of Gastroenterology. Dr. Yen sees patients at both Evanston and Glenbrook Hospitals.
